Alan I. Rothenberg

The Center for Community Partnerships 2007 Distinguished Community Leader Award was presented to Alan I. Rothenberg in recognition of his lifelong dedication to public service in Los Angeles and California. After retiring in 2000 as a partner in the Los Angeles law office of Latham & Watkins, LLP, Mr. Rothenberg founded 1st Century Bank in 2004 to serve mid-size businesses that are generally ignored by larger banks. In addition to serving as Chairman of Century Bank, he is also a mediator, arbitrator, and consultant to major corporations. Prior to joining Latham & Watkins in 1990, Mr. Rothenberg was Founder and Managing Partner of the prominent Los Angeles- based law firm Manatt, Phelps, Rothenberg and Phillips. He has been an instructor at the University of Southern California School of Law and has served as CEO, president, general counsel, and on the Board of Governors of numerous organizations, including the State Bar of California, the United States Soccer Federation and World Cup Organizing Committee, the National Basketball Association, and the Music Center of Los Angeles.

Mr. Rothenberg and his wife Georgina, have three children and four grandchildren, and reside in the Los Angeles area.
